Results of Field Day 2022

Well this years Field Day for the CNYARC was a huge success with lots of visitors and participants. We operated from start to finish in wonderful weather. It did get a bit hot, but it was workable. We ran entirely from non-commercial power (all battery or solar) so we were able to be a 4A station in Western NY. Our club call sign on the air was N2CNY and we operated the full spectrum available to us on the Extra Class permissions from our president KR2HWK (Marc).

The most successful bands were 80m, 40m, and 20m. This year we were able to operate on FT8 and had a club member assist with making a satellite contact through AO-7 at 1907 hrs. with W8DC a 3A station in Michigan. That was worth standing in the sun to hear, witness, and record. Other good examples of our activities were taking and passing traffic during OCTEN that evening and everyone attempting to utilize different types of antennas and deployment situations.

This activity helped some of our members go out and upgrade their licenses and to improve their CW skills for next year. This also prompted some to upgrade their mobile equipment for a possible deployment of an emergency situation in the future, like for ARES or RACES situations.

All in all we had a good time and learned a lot during the time with several new members participating and assisting. Everyone is already looking forward to next years event. Check out the photo gallery below to see the fun.

Winter Field Day 2022 is Coming!

Winter Field Day is being held on January 29/30, 2022. You can work from three different types of locations. It’s a great opportunity to learn new skills and try out new techniques.

You can be at Home, using your normal equipment and antenna. You can be Outdoor, where you use a location other than home, and is physically outside even in your own vehicle with antenna set up that is not fixed. Or lastly you can operate Indoor, using a location that is remote from your usually location and where an amateur station is not located.

It is an opportunity to test out your emergency communications procedures while also learning ways to activate in the field with limited resources. If you are interested follow the link below to get more information and prepare yourself for an interesting weekend.

Field Day 2019 & Club Picnic

Field Day 2019 is fast approaching. June 22nd and 23rd from 2pm eastern to 2pm eastern. With that comes our club Picnic following the closing of Field Day. Our Field Day QTH (Location) will be at 2016 Ballina Road, Cazenovia NY 13035. If you want to assist in setup we will be starting on Friday evening June 21st shortly after 6pm. It’s a great location and we are looking forward to this time we have this year and are praying for no rain.

Our Club Picnic will be following the closing of Field Day, in other words right after cleanup at the same location. So if your up to sharing a party with us and having a great time, stop by the above location around 2pm as we will be tearing down and cleaning up and getting ready for the picnic. We will probably start around 4pm for the actual picnic, but the more hands the quicker the cleanup and the sooner we can start the picnic.

Field Day 2018 Update

Field Day 1028 was a great success. We were able to make close to 300 contacts. 11 contacts were QRP and we had some great visitors including a few from some public agencies. We will have a further update at our next meeting which is July 10th. The Fenner Wind Farm was so nice to have as our location and we thank them greatly for the use and their hospitality. We had great help in setting up and taking down and also with running radios. It was a wonderful time and we are already planning for next year.

Below are some pictures of our time there.
